About Us
Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million men and women, friends, acquaintances, professionals, and entrepreneurs who believe in a world where all people, together, promote positive and lasting changes in nearby and distant communities. Our mission is to be of service to others through our projects; we promote integrity and advance international understanding, goodwill, and peace through our community of entrepreneurs, professionals, and community leaders. Rotarians around the world operate within Clubs distributed in their respective territories; the Clubs are affiliated with Rotary International, present in more than 200 countries worldwide.
Rotary International and the Clubs operate in various ways to benefit their communities, often involving non-Rotarians in their actions; one such form of association of Rotarians and non-Rotarians is called a Rotary Community Corps (R.C.C.); R.C.C. members plan and implement projects in their communities and support the projects of local Rotary clubs. Sponsored by a Rotary club, an R.C.C. leverages Rotary’s network, brand, and mentoring, collaborating with Clubs to plan and implement service projects. R.C.C.s increase Rotary’s impact and expand its reach by bringing the knowledge and talents of those outside Rotary to strengthen the community through sustainable projects. There are over 11,000 groups in 105 countries.
In the year 2020 – 2021, a group of Rotarians from District 2050 (which includes Clubs based in the southern Lombardy region) already active on this topic established a national-level GROC focused on road safety; the group includes more than one hundred people, both Rotarians and non-Rotarians, from all over Italy, working in various directions with the commitment to reduce, through various actions, the number of road accidents, especially those with fatal outcomes and all the moral and social costs, direct and indirect, they bring with them. This is our mission.
